Given my penchant for a wide range of interests, I never intended my bachelor's thesis to be just a collection. I was aiming for a project that would unfold on multiple levels and seamlessly coalesce into a harmonious concept. Materiality, image, sound, animation, light and objects - they should all transform the exhibition space into another world. A sensory experience that invites visitors to feel, see, hear and even sniff the atmosphere.
The outfits in the collection are constructed for the bodies aliens. The accompanying video tells the story of an extraterrestrial creature that lands on Earth and embarks on a captivating journey of discovery. Using a mixture of modern camera techniques and night vision footage, the video not only presents the contemporary collection, but also unfolds the story of the investigation of UFO sightings and the search for their existence.
Objects hanging from the ceiling, artfully draped from tubes, take on the unmistakable silhouette of UFOs. In collaboration with Hanno Hlacer, the animation illustrates the connection between the Bachelor project - consisting of UFOs and materiality - and my first inspiration, the film "Arrival". The inclusion of a character that is part of the secret language used in the film to communicate with aliens means "Alien", thus revealing the title of my Bachelor project.
